Useful in society
Cultivate true power
The spiral of theory and practice

OVERTURE
Kubota has always actively attended classes and deepened his knowledge in the Department of Department of Business Administration. He put into practice the knowledge he learned through SBSL (School of Business Student Leaders) activities and part-time work, improving his ability to apply it to society. After graduation, he will work as a consultant, utilizing his management expertise to help clients solve their problems.
Research into the impact of culture on global management
The main reason I chose Department of Business Administration of Business Administration was because I thought that by learning about the perspectives and business models of management, I would be able to become a person who can be active in a wide range of areas of society. I was also interested in the curriculum, which allows me to learn about business management from a practical perspective starting in my first year.
As I continued my studies, I became interested in the changes being caused by globalization and the COVID-19 pandemic in companies both in Japan and overseas, and I am currently conducting research in a seminar led by Professor Inamura Yudai, focusing on the relationship between religion and international business.
In recent years, globalization has seen a rise in Japanese companies expanding overseas and foreign companies expanding into Japan. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, remote work has become widespread and it has become easier to communicate remotely with overseas companies, and this trend seems to be accelerating. In this era, I believe that it will be important to understand the characteristics of overseas companies and the unique culture of Japanese companies in future business. In particular, the way Japanese people relate to religion is very different from that of major countries overseas, and I have hypothesized that the differences in values that arise there may be affecting corporate management and profits, and am currently conducting research and analysis. Religion is a very sensitive subject, but I chose it as my research topic because I thought it was meaningful to learn about it.
The "knowledge base" that was essential for corporate collaboration
As an extracurricular activity, I am active in SBSL (School of Business Student Leaders), which is run mainly by students of the School School of Business. One of the features of SBSL is collaboration projects with companies. I also participated in a joint project with ZOZO Inc. as a sub-leader, and worked on developing and selling original university sweatshirts. Thanks to energetic activities such as spreading information on SNS and holding an exhibition on campus, we were able to achieve the highest sales volume among the four universities that participated in this project. To get to this point, the knowledge I acquired in my undergraduate classes, such as theories of business administration and marketing, and setting specific numerical goals and running the PDCA cycle of "Plan, Do, Measure, Evaluate, and Act," was an indispensable foundation.
School of Business is characterized by its curriculum that allows students to learn by linking knowledge to practice. Students learn knowledge and theory, put what they have learned into practice, and decide what to learn next based on the results of the practice and points of reflection. I think that repeating this process is important. Some people say that university studies are centered on theory and are not useful in society, but I don't think so. I think that such people probably only took classes as an obligation to obtain credits and did not study independently. Personally, I feel that I was able to study independently in every class, solidify the knowledge in my mind, and acquire the ability to fully utilize my knowledge in society.
However, to be honest, I wasn't that confident that I had really acquired the specialized knowledge. It was only after I started job hunting that I realized that my learning was helping me. The knowledge I had acquired in accounting classes was useful when reading securities reports for corporate analysis. Thanks to my exposure to many business models through case studies, I was able to quickly understand the business model of the company I was applying to. On the other hand, when talking to other students I met during my job hunting, I sometimes felt that my understanding of corporate analysis and business models was insufficient, and it was only then that I realized that I had acquired such knowledge, and I was very surprised at how much I had grown.

A student life where learning and growing from setbacks
I mentioned that the reason I chose the Department of Department of Business Administration was because I thought that learning a business management perspective would be applicable widely in society, and looking back on my studies over the past three years, I don't think that was so wrong.
For example, the methods of work improvement I learned in class are also useful in my part-time job as a cram school instructor. I apply the methods of identifying bottlenecks in work processes and efficiently improving work, and when creating annual study plans for students, I first identify their weaknesses, set areas to strengthen and numerical targets, and systematically work to improve their grades. Thanks to the students' hard work, more and more students are getting accepted into their schools of choice, which is a positive thing.
Also, throughout my university life, even when things did not go well and I hit a wall in SBSL activities, I did not just dismiss it as "Frustrating!", but instead looked back on what I should have done and tried to use it to improve. This happened when I proposed to launch a new project within SBSL in my second year. The project was aimed at supporting students in their job hunting, but in the end it did not come to fruition because I was unable to differentiate it from the programs offered by the university's career and employment center, and I was unable to share my vision and give clear instructions to the members. However, I believe that what I learned from this experience, how to propose a business and how to be a responsible leader, will definitely be useful to me in the future. I am the type of person who jumps into anything I want to do, and sometimes I fail, but whether I succeed or fail, the fact that I put my all into it will be of great value to me. I would like my juniors to also try their best in anything that interests them.
After graduation, he became a consultant.
After graduation, I plan to work as a business consultant at a global consulting firm. The reason I want to become a consultant is not only because it is a job where I can utilize the knowledge and methods I have acquired in the field of business administration, but also because, in my experiences to date, I have found it rewarding to communicate something to people and have a positive impact on them or leave an impact. In the future, I would like to become a consultant who can not only solve the problems of many clients, but also add value to them.
To achieve this, in my fourth year, I would like to take classes on marketing, customer analysis, and supply chains, which I have not taken much of so far, and also continue studying English and IT. I would like to make the most of my time as a student and further improve my expertise.
